400. For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. 24:1 (Isaiah 14:1) 401. And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. 24:2 (Isaiah 14:2) 402. And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou… Read More

Thursday, November 27th, 2008Civil Rights Groups Challenge Proposition 8 in Court
Monday, November 17th, 2008
Today, civil rights groups acted quickly to challenge California’s Proposition 8, the proposition that discriminates against minorities by stripping fundamental rights from homosexual Californians. The civil rights groups have asked the California Supreme Court to strike down the proposition on the basis that it violates the State’s Constitution’s current wording which provides equal protection for minority groups. Opponents of Proposition 8 have refused to accept that the proposition has passed in hopes that it will be deemed unconstitutional and ultimately, overturned. In an effort to do just that, gay marriage supporters filed a… Read More
A California Embarassment

from La Opinión | LINK TO ARTICLE
The election in California had two faces. One is pride that a large majority voted for the man who would be the first African-American president of the United States. The second is the embarrassment of changing the Constitution to impose restrictions on the rights of a minority in California. Read More
Something To Think About…

Approximately 7% of all people are gay. Since they have two parents, 14% have a gay child. Since each gay has 4 grandparents, that's another 28%. Added up it's 49%. Now ask yourself, since almost 1 out of every 2 of these people have a gay family member, how do you think they will feel when that person finally comes out of the closet and asks why their family voted to discriminate against them? It's a harsh reality that many people either never considered on election day or were too self involved in their religious bigotry to care. Read More

Californian’s Vote To Give Chickens More Leg Room, And Strip Rights From A Minority Group
Monday, November 10th, 2008
Written by Paul Komarek Californian's made history on November 4, 2008 by throwing the civil rights movement back forty years and the animal rights movement forward forty years. And while I am a firm proponent of animal rights, I am also a proponent of equal rights which is why I am confused as to how such a hateful and discriminatory measure named Proposition 8 was even permitted to be voted on this election year. California’s State Constitution specifically protects minority groups from attacks such as this, yet was so arrogantly trampled over by various bigots, churches and even a wealthy religious cult from Utah. Over the course of… Read More
California’s Proposition 8 Passes
Sunday, November 9th, 2008
By Paul Prada In an effort to strip rights from a minority group and effectively write discrimination into California's state Constitution, anti-gay groups, including many churches, dumped millions of dollars into passing Proposition 8. Prop 8 amends the State Constitution by declaring that marriage within the State of California will only be recognized between a man and a woman. Never before in California's history has such a blatant act of legalizing discrimination against a minority group been attempted, let alone enforced but on November 4, 2008, history was made by doing just that. The Proposition passed with 52% in favor of the measure… Read More
